Friendly, gentle services for kids
We truly love having young children as patients, and our doctors and staff will make them feel welcome and at home. We encourage parents to bring their children with them when they visit our office for their appointment. It’s a great way for your kids to begin feeling comfortable around our doctors and our friendly, caring staff.
We will do everything we can to reassure your child and we explain about their dental work at a level they can understand. You can bring your child in as early as age 2, although we never force a child to have dental work and wait until they are ready.

Our gentle hygienist is great with kids and trained to clean children’s teeth. He’ll take the time to teach your children how to brush and floss their teeth, and talk about overall dental health.
As part of his care for your child, Dr. Woods can apply sealer to the chewing surfaces of your child’s back teeth (premolars and molars), where 4 out of 5 children’s cavities are found. When Dr. Woods applies sealer, he’s providing a barrier to a build-up of plaque, food, and bacteria. Adding protecting sealants is a pro-active way to fight tooth decay.
Dr. Woods recommends bringing children in by the age of 7 to check on how their teeth are coming in. If their teeth are coming in badly now, we focus on interceptive orthodontics. Dr. Woods creates a removable retainer to widen the arch to make room for the adult teeth to grow in or to correct spacing issues.
Will pacifier use and thumb sucking lead to bad teeth for my child?
Perhaps. Pacifier habits and thumb sucking generally become a problem when they continue past age three and cause teeth to protrude. Ask Dr. Woods what he recommends to stop these habits before they become a problem.
